Healthy soil, healthy planet

We’re passionate about the amazing properties of soil. Yes, soil. Like our gut, healthy soil is full of microbes and good bacteria. These work symbiotically with plants to help them grow and keep the soil nutrient rich. It’s a relationship that has helped soil become one of the planet’s greatest tools for locking in carbon. And while cows may not seem like the obvious partner in our journey to a more sustainable way of farming, they play a vital role here.

Come rain or shine our cows are outside in the fresh air. They are pasture fed and move onto new pasture every day, so that they always enjoy the freshest food. As the herd grazes, they disturb and naturally fertilise the ground before they move on and give the pasture time to rest, all of which combines to generate strong new plant growth. As the plants grow, they draw in carbon from the CO2 in the atmosphere and secure it safely in our soil.

This carbon feeds the bacteria and microbes that naturally occur in the soil and improves the health and quality of the soil, which in turn encourages more growth. The whole wonderful cycle then begins all over again – a constant cycle of growth and carbon sequestration. Nature at its absolute best, giving us healthy soil, healthy cows and a healthier planet.
